Yelp’s Silent Storm | Silent Disco Recap
Last night we partnered with Yelp to bring silent disco to the Yelp Elite and other Yelpers for one night of the Yelp Holiday Hangover series. People mingled, enjoyed drinks, engaged with vendors without the blasting music of traditional PA systems and the Payne Mansion got its first dose of the high-energy dance party that is silent disco for the first time – and we hope not the last.
Since the event was dubbed, “Yelp’s Silent Storm“, SKYY Vodka prepared specially crafted and refreshingly appropriate drinks: the pineapple infused Tropical Storm and the classic Dark & Stormy. Widmer Brothers beers and Long Meadow Ranch wines also flowed freely at this open bar event. Luna Park and pop-up restaurant EAT Restaurant were serving delicious savory hors d’oeuvres, Sweet Constructions and Miz Lynn’s Pies had your sweet tooth covered and Fiji Water hydrated the night. There were hair stylists creating some real funky up-do’s and even a roaming magician. What a great mix of vendors, brands and Yelpers!
DJ Sonny Phono started the night off with some disco / funk and grooved into high-energy top 40 jams filling the dance floor and increasing heart rates proportionate to the surge of liquid courage as the evening progressed. The Soul Con Dance Company put on two awesome performances throughout the night, opening a big dance circle of people around them watching and cheering on their tightly choreographed moves. Cressie Mae Hoops was also in the house, hula-hooping through the night and adding some great energy and flavor to this dance-themed evening.
Sonny Phono’s idea of a soul train during a disco flashback track was, well… BRILLIANT! Anyone fortunate enough to experience it is now forever in the record books for being part of the first silent soul train in the world! Good on ya.
We had a great time being part of Yelp’s Holiday Hangover series and can’t wait to see everyone on the dance floor again soon.
Photos from this event will be posted on the Silent Disco San Francisco Facebook page.
